Law Professionals band together to support the Salvos

The Salvation Army joined forces with local solicitors to run a Wills Day providing Central Coast residents with the opportunity to have their wills professionally prepared in exchange for a $40 donation, raising almost $14,000 for The Salvos.

John Turnell, a solicitor at Peninsula Law one of the many who dedicated his time and expertise to participate in the day, says that having an up to date legal Will is essential

In total 24 local solicitors gave their valued time to the cause, with a total of 348 wills prepared, raising $13,950 for The Salvation Army’s Oasis Youth Centre at Wyong, which provides support services and programs for Central Coast youth.

The Wills Day gave local residents the chance to consider their financial futures and ensure that their family and assets are properly protected.

“Many people underestimate the importance of having an updated will,” said Geoff Brazel of Brazel Moore Lawyers Gosford, who was another of the solicitors donating their time and expertise to the Wills Day.

Rodney Dibley from The Salvation Army said the Wills Day had received significant support resulting in a win-win situation for both the community and The Salvation Army.

“Assisting in the future of the community whilst raising funds at the same time is a perfect match,” said Rodney.

“We’d like to specially thank the 24 local solicitors who gave up their time to be involved,” he added.

“In addition, we are very grateful for the many ways in which Westpac supported us – we couldn’t have achieved the success we did without them.”

The Salvation Army Oasis Youth Centre at Wyong provides local young people a number of support services and programs including counselling, anger management, legal support and school holiday activities.
