Coasties shine at Golden Guitars

by Phaedra Pym

Local country music artists have done the Central Coast proud by taking home a swag of Golden Guitars at the 2012 Jayco Country Music Awards of Australia held in Tamworth on Saturday evening.

Leading the line-up was Beccy Cole. The local songstress took out the Female Artist of the Year Award for her album 'Waitress'. She also won the Vocal Collaboration of the Year Award together with Kasey Chambers, another local, for their duet, 'Millionaires'.

Other Central Coast winners were:

  • Adam Harvey - Album of the Year Award for 'Falling into Place'. The album was produced by Central Coast producer, Rod McCormack, who runs local recording studio, ‘The Music Cellar’

  • Shane Nicholson – Song of the Year for 'Bad Machines'

  • Duncan Toombs – Video of the Year for 'Children of the Gurindji' (by Sara Storer & Kev Carmody)

Cole, who together with Keith Urban was one of the two biggest winners on the night, has now achieved a total of 9 Golden Guitars during her career to date.
