Central Coast businesses undertake "Green Skills" training

Since February this year a group of innovative and dedicated business representatives have undertaken a new skill set of business qualifications in managing sustainable business operations. This new generation of environmentally conscious professionals have worked tirelessly through a strategic set of newly accredited qualifications within New South Wales to develop their understanding of the impact all businesses have on the environment and how best to implement change and diversify operations to increase profit through renewable resources and use promotion to maximise appeal to a ‘Greener’ market choice.

Supported by Wyong Shire Council, Regional Development Australia and State Training Services Hunter and Central Coast Regional Office (Department of Education and Training), this pilot program targeted the Tuggerah Straight Business Sub-Catchment Area and was influenced by changing environmental management systems throughout the region. A total of 12 environmentally conscience businesses took part in this 10 week accredited course, all of which received full competencies and will enjoy a graduation event programmed for 12 May 2011 at Wyong Shire Council Chambers in line with the Central Coast Innovation Festival.

As a result of Statewide Business Training’s enormous success with the Green Skills pilot project the Department of Education State Training Services for the Hunter and Central Coast Regions has approved further Government funding for Diploma level qualifications in Sustainability exclusively to Statewide Business Training for as little as $637.00. Participants seeking a well rounded business qualification with extra diversity will study 6 sustainability and 9 business management units to gain a Diploma of Sustainability or also on offer for those with previous study credits or who are undergoing current studies, a partial qualification is also available under Government funding and could assist students in achieving a double diploma.

Only 12 enrolments for the full Diploma of Sustainability qualification are available and 10 enrolments for the partial Sustainability units.
